The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reportedly made the producers of Sarkar Raj shell out Rs.1 million for designer sunglasses for her look in the film.
Apparently, Ash herself chose the glares that made a big hole in the producers’ pocket. Obviously, the price tag left the production houses, K Sera Sera and Z Picture Company, reeling.
Ash plays Anita Rajan, an aggressive and ambitious business tycoon - she is the CEO of a power plant.
According to a source from the production house, Ash was given a pair of designer glasses as part of her look in the Ram Gopal Varma directed film.
But the Bachchan bahu didn’t like the sunglasses much and told the producers that she would get a pair for herself. It sounded fine, until the bill arrived.
Ash didn’t settle for anything regular. The source added that she finally selected a pair of Gucci sunglasses from Harrods when she was in London.
The glares do make a style statement as far as her look in the film is concerned, but the production house could not digest the idea of her wearing such expensive glasses, especially since they had to settle the bill.
‘Sarkar Raj’ also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in pivotal roles
Bollywood hopes to turn tide with big flicks
MUMBAI: Bollywood is looking to take over from where the IPL ends. The post-IPL period will see a flurry of big releases with Sarkar Raj, which marks the coming together of the three Bachchans, seeking to initiate the box-office hungama. The industry has seen a lull in the recent past, which has coincided with the cricket extravaganza, and only one film (Jannat) has managed to buck the trend. Films of various budgets have kept bombing at the box-office during the 44-day IPL fever. Now, Bollywood is gearing up to strike back. Sarkar Raj, a sequel to the 2005 hit Sarkar, is the first biggie (lined up for release this Friday); the film stars the three Bs (Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya).
Banner: B R Films Producer: Ravi Chopra Director: Vivek Sharma Star Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Shahrukh Khan, Aman Siddiqui, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Rajpal Yadav, Satish Shah Music Director: Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant, Sulaiman Merchant
The movie “Boothnath” is aimed at children audience on vacation. The movie is about a friendly spirit, family generations, school pranks and relationships. The script of the movie is clear and performance of Amitabh Bachchan is extremely perfect. Though the film shows Ghosts, it is not a horror movie and it just tries to get spirituality in theme.
The movie starts off as a perfect entertainer for kids. There is even a song sung by the kids Hum to Hain Aandhi dancing adult style, which borrows heavily from Westside Story the cult Hollywood film of the ’60s. Banku (Aman) has just shifted with his parents (Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla) to this huge house in Goa. But the house is haunted by an angry ghost (Bhoothnath) whose sole aim in life is to rid the house of its inhabitants. And the ghost can be vengeful. But the ghost is no match for Banku’s charm and innocence. Soon they develop a rapport and the two of them create a magical world of their own. Some very good special effects as Amitabh appears and disappears at will. And Aman is a fairly spontaneous actor. He should have been given better dialogues instead of the stilted dialogues he is now busy mouthing. Aman insists he has a special friend who is not visible to anybody else. But his mother does not believe him. Then suddenly one day Juhi Chawla realizes his her son is telling the truth. So Bhootnath is forced to appear in a human ‘avatar’ in front of Juhi too.
Chopra was very forthright and honest in admitting that Big B and SRK will not be seen sharing the same frame in Bhoothnath. He elaborates that this is so as it is the demand of the script.
With, Deepika Padukone Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bollywood gave us four youthful dazzling stars in 2007 who are accepted to become a power to surmise with.. The tendency is prone to continue in 2008 with at least three major star kids’ debut films are getting all set for release.
Sikander Kher
He is the son of artistic actor Anupam Kher and actress Kirron Kher. His parents have recognized themselves with their amateur dramatics skills, winning national and international acclaim. His debut film is Woodstock Villa, a thriller that falls in the film noir genre. The film is directed by Hanslal Mehta and Neha Uberoi, who made her debut in Dus Kahaniyan, is paired opposite him.
Success rate
His avant-garde looks in an activist debut film may not hit a harmony with audiences.
*He will be a flop star.
Mimoh Chakraborty
He is the son of admired actor of ’80s, Mithun Chakraborty, who still has fan followers. His mother Yogita Bali was also a well-known actress and beautiful too. Mithun’s dancing skills in the film Disco Dancer made him an at once commotion.
Jimmy is the debut film he will be seen which is an action detective movie with ample fundamentals of song and dance sequences to platform Mimoh’s dexterous feet. The film is directed by veteran director Raj Sippy and co-stars Pooja Singh opposite Mimoh.
Success rate
He made his debut in a B-grade flip which has been in the cans for a year, directed by a disregarded director. To add to this, he’s a little flabby, which isn’t taken benevolently by audiences when six-pack abs have become the standard for Bollywood heroes.
*He will not survive much in the industry.
Harman Baweja
He is the son of successful producer-director Harry Baweja, who has produced a sequence of hits with Diwale, Diljale and Qayamat.. Harman is expected to be launched conventionally in an out-and-out masala film. Love Story 2050 is the debute film in which Harman will be launched is a science-fiction flip with a weighty dose of special effects. The big-budget film is directed by Harry himself and co-stars Priyanka Chopra, who happens to be Harman’s real-life girlfriend.
Success rate
His eerie semblance to Hrithik Roshan will illustrate redundant comparisons. Since his debut film’s subject is not a regular Bollywood story, it may miscarry if it’s not healthy prepared.
*This debut film may deposit him in the confederation of Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Tashan is a impending Bollywood film starring Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. It is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who wrote the screenplay and dialogues for hits like Dhoom and Dhoom 2. The film will be produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra under Yash Raj Films and is planned for a release in April 25th, 2008.
The music
The music has just released and is soon set to swing the music charts.
Yash Raj movies recently are just a average offering in a sumptuous packaging. and Tashan is no exclusion.
Saif’s son, Ibrahim, will be seen making his debut with the film, and is reported to play his son. All the actors will be seen generous new looks designed by designer Aki Narula, with Kapoor in a very sensational role and apparently donning a bikini.
Where the shooting was done
In June 2007, the cast began filming in Kerala, and continued shooting in Laddakh and Rajasthan. Pictures of Khan and Kareena Kapoor were taken in September 2007 while shooting for the film in the Fort area of Mumbai. Some portions of the film were later shot in the city of Haridwar on the banks of the river Ganges and Greece.
Here is a brief preview of the hypered Tashan.
What happens when you hurl two guys who disgust each other together.
A cool call center executive Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan), a desi aspirant gangster Bachchan Pande (Akshay Kumar) add for good measure a beautiful girl Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) who can’t live trusted on a journey across extravagant India, a journey which will modify the route of their life in more ways than one, a voyage where even enemy need to reliance each other if they want to be energetic.
The snag is, in this world no one can be trustworthy ever!
And to top it all there is the wickedness eye of Bhaiyyaji aka Anil Kapoor, a nonconformist gangster who enjoys butchering people as much as he enjoys interpolation of English.
Secret revelation:
In the full film Saif and Kareena are in love in full swing, but in the closing stages it is Akshay Kumar who gets take hold of of Kareena! opps…
Prediction
Yash Raj’s all movies are not a hit like Chak De, his Laaga Chunri Me Daag went into melancholy, this movie may be liked by a certain section of masses, but it may not be family movie due to hypered thunderous scenes, as Kareena and Saif’s chemistry is on full scale. On a scale of 10, a rating of 7 may be given.
Off late, a young music composer Ram Sampath made the Roshans recompense the price for plagiarism. Ram Sampath had composed a jingle The Thump for a Sony Ericsson TV commercial, which is endorsed by Hrithik Roshan. It is very sad that Plagiarism has become very unbridled today. People are just lifting tunes. Hereafter, Roshans who have the regular habit of stealing music will think twice before stealing another tune, keeping in view the huge amount they had to pay to the music director as compensation.
They are in fact copying a lot from Pakistani music too. The super duper hit film of our industry K3G ’s most popular song “boley choodiyan” was copied in tune from a popular private pakistani number ” ghar aaja sohniya” sung by female singer “shazia manzoor”
Music directors should know the difference between motivation and plagiarism. Resourceful inspiration is not always wrong. Sometimes you get to listen great songs due to this creative inspiration. Copying in any sense is wrong and should not be done.
What does it feel before the release of a film taking into consideration it’s after a long gap?
I’m not the sort of person who gets nervy. In any case, I haven’t had the time to replicate much on U Me Aur Hum as both Ajay and I were preoccupied with other stuff.
After playing Simran, Anjali and Zooni, there is a lot of inquisitiveness about your personality in U Me Aur Hum.
I play a common working girl. There’s isn’t anything predominantly different about her character.
The preceding time you worked with Ajay was in Raju Chacha in 2000. How was it running with him again?
He knows me as an actor and as a person. I think it makes it easier for him to direct me.
What do you think of him as a director?
I think he’s a terrific director. He really is.
Is he a sturdy director to thrill?
He knows how to augment an artist’s presentation and how to get the unsurpassed out of you. He gauges what you are capable of and enhances it, which is what good directors are all about.
Taking into consideration Ajay is uncomfortable dancing, how did the salsa sequences go?
I was in fact nicely flabbergasted. We were worried as we did not get sufficient time to prepare and I thought we would have to repeat several times and matters like that but I was stunned. He was quite good.
How did your daughter Nysa retort to the ambience on the sets?
She was OK but she wouldn’t sit roughly much. She would get jaded. All kids want notice. She was not in reality spellbound by anything on the sets.
Yet another awards ceremony this one being help this year April 26th or something right? here are the nominations and most of use know who all are gonna win..but ssshh act surprised ok?

The trade rumour coming in from Malluwood (Kerala) have it that SRK’s Om Shanti Om has been doing boisterous big business in Kerala. In truth, it has made healthier business than their local films released during the similar time. So the story of the day is that Shah Rukh Khan has vanished everywhere no Hindi film actors have spent prior to. King Khan is a gigantic knock downhill south too. Mind it!
Madhuri Dixit is to emerge with the Bachchans during the North American leg of The Unforgettable Tour that kicks off at The Rogers Centre in Toronto on July 18, 2008.
“For Madhuri, it’d be the easiest thing in the world for her to join the concerts in the US as she is based there,” revealed a close friend of the Bachchans .
Besides the Bachchans (Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai) other Bollywood faculty that will be a part of the whole expedition includes Bipasha Basu, Ritesh Deshmukh and the duo of Vishal-Shekhar.
Regardless of plunging the tour as a brain child of Amitabh Bachchan, Wizcraft, which is supervising the the tour, is not ready to jeopardy relying on just the Bachchans, Bipasha and Ritesh to drag in the crowds, sentient of their boundaries as live entertainers.
Other Bollywood stars who have been roped in to dapper up the tour contribution at other chosen places include Kareena’s beaus, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan(past and present..lol..)
MUMBAI (Reuters) - A new Bollywood film about a plane hijacking involving a separatist militant outfit echoes the real life hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane in 1999.
But “Hijack”, directed by Kunal Shivdasani, will focus on a rescue operation conducted by lead actor Shiney Ahuja inside the aircraft — something that did not happen in the Kandahar case.
“It may seem similar to that of the Kandahar hijacking case but ‘Hijack’ is a purely fictional film,” Shivdasani told Reuters.
“We are not pointing fingers at the Kandahar hijackers or which group was responsible behind the incident.”
Five armed men hijacked the Airbus A-300 carrying 189 passengers and crew between Kathmandu and New Delhi on Christmas Eve in 1999. The plane touched down in western India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates before landing in Kandahar in Afghanistan.
The hijackers killed one passenger early in the week-long stand-off, but the remaining passengers and crew walked free after India released three Kashmir separatist militants from jail.
India said the hijackers, who were never caught, were all Pakistani and accused Pakistan’s government of complicity in the hijacking, charges it denied.
British-born Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, one of the freed militants, was later convicted and sentenced to death by a Pakistani court for his role in the murder in 2002 of Daniel Pearl, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal.
“My film is thoroughly commercial and if people come to watch my film due to similarity of the film’s plot to that of Kandahar incident, (it’s) good for us,” Shivdasani said.
