Mumbai, June 10 (PTI) Veteran actor Dilip Prabhavalkar, who won the national award for best supporting actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in “Lage Raho Munnabhai”, says the role that helped revive Gandhian philosophy among youths has been his toughest till date.
“I have won several awards in the past. But this one is precious as I am getting it for a performance which has been the toughest so far. My role made Gandhi lovable and acceptable to the youth,” Prabhavalkar told PTI here today. He said the credit goes to Rajkumar Hirani for creating and conceiving Bapu in such a manner that the present-day world can identify with. Prabhavalkar said his supporting act in the Marathi film “Shevri” was a unique role and was happy that it had been recognised. Madhur Bhandarkar, who bagged the national award for best direction for “Traffic Signal”, described recognition as announcement as a “great moment”. “It is because of the jury, critics and audiences who have encouraged my kind of cinema that I am being able to continue making movies,” he said, adding his next film “Fashion”, starring Priyanka Chopra, will release in November. Sanjay Dutt’s political belief could meet with rigid conflict from some resident groups in the Bandra-Khar area, who are not in support of the actor receiving a ticket in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Dutt lately inclined curiosity in contesting the next Lok Sabha elections. He is reported to have made his political ambitions clear at a function to mark the birthday of a Congress party MLA. Congress is yet to make a decision on whom to put up for the elections from the constituency, some residents associations have made their position unambiguous. The representatives are opponent because they feel he was involved in the bomb blasts case and also many are not in confrontation with him after his marriage with Manyata, people does not want to acknowledge it, more often than not because Manyata does not embrace a good family backdrop and appropriate stance. “Our stand is clear: We want candidates with a clean background. We fear that Dutt will not serve the constituency. We will write to all political parties not to give him a ticket,’’ remarked Anandini Thakoor of the Khar Residents Association. But residents of the area have questioned Dutt’s contribution to society thus far. ‘’What has he done till now?’’ says Thakoor. The associations had decided to start a signature campaign on Sunday in support of MP Priya Dutt, the plan was dismissed as they felt it would tantamount to propagating a picky candidate.
Shah Rukh feels cricket is commercially doable and will reverse to essentials if cricket fails.
Shah Rukh Khan remarked that the opportunity to make money from cricket and then promoting it to other sports was the main raison d’être for him to get implicated with the Cricket Board-promoted Indian Premier League.
“Commerce and business are very important in today’s world. Cricket is commercially viable and we need to make money from this sport,” alleged the actor, who has bought the Kolkata franchise of the IPL, in Pune.
Shahrukh said this in the presence of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President and MP Suresh Kalmadi who, in turn, requested the superstar to share his icon status with other sports also.
“I am very happy with `Chak de India’ and the work you did for hockey. But I’m disappointed you went back to cricket. I want you to be made the ambassador of the Commonweath Games and Olympic sports in India,” assumed Kalmadi at the inauguration of the Abhijit Kadam Memorial Football Cup.
“There are around 10 nations playing cricket at the moment and over 200 countries competiting in Olympic sports. Cricket has many fathers and I would love to have you as the brand ambassador for the Commonwealth Games,” he supplemented.

Where the shooting was done
In June 2007, the cast began filming in Kerala, and continued shooting in Laddakh and Rajasthan. Pictures of Khan and Kareena Kapoor were taken in September 2007 while shooting for the film in the Fort area of Mumbai. Some portions of the film were later shot in the city of Haridwar on the banks of the river Ganges and Greece.

Yash Raj’s all movies are not a hit like Chak De, his Laaga Chunri Me Daag went into melancholy, this movie may be liked by a certain section of masses, but it may not be family movie due to hypered thunderous scenes, as Kareena and Saif’s chemistry is on full scale. On a scale of 10, a rating of 7 may be given.
Off late, a young music composer Ram Sampath made the Roshans recompense the price for plagiarism. Ram Sampath had composed a jingle The Thump for a Sony Ericsson TV commercial, which is endorsed by Hrithik Roshan. It is very sad that Plagiarism has become very unbridled today. People are just lifting tunes. Hereafter, Roshans who have the regular habit of stealing music will think twice before stealing another tune, keeping in view the huge amount they had to pay to the music director as compensation.
They are in fact copying a lot from Pakistani music too. The super duper hit film of our industry K3G ’s most popular song “boley choodiyan” was copied in tune from a popular private pakistani number ” ghar aaja sohniya” sung by female singer “shazia manzoor”
Music directors should know the difference between motivation and plagiarism. Resourceful inspiration is not always wrong. Sometimes you get to listen great songs due to this creative inspiration. Copying in any sense is wrong and should not be done.
What does it feel before the release of a film taking into consideration it’s after a long gap?
I’m not the sort of person who gets nervy. In any case, I haven’t had the time to replicate much on U Me Aur Hum as both Ajay and I were preoccupied with other stuff.
After playing Simran, Anjali and Zooni, there is a lot of inquisitiveness about your personality in U Me Aur Hum.
I play a common working girl. There’s isn’t anything predominantly different about her character.
The preceding time you worked with Ajay was in Raju Chacha in 2000. How was it running with him again?
He knows me as an actor and as a person. I think it makes it easier for him to direct me.
What do you think of him as a director?
I think he’s a terrific director. He really is.
Is he a sturdy director to thrill?
He knows how to augment an artist’s presentation and how to get the unsurpassed out of you. He gauges what you are capable of and enhances it, which is what good directors are all about.
Taking into consideration Ajay is uncomfortable dancing, how did the salsa sequences go?
I was in fact nicely flabbergasted. We were worried as we did not get sufficient time to prepare and I thought we would have to repeat several times and matters like that but I was stunned. He was quite good.
How did your daughter Nysa retort to the ambience on the sets?
She was OK but she wouldn’t sit roughly much. She would get jaded. All kids want notice. She was not in reality spellbound by anything on the sets.

Poor Adnan Sami, for the last three years he is trying to get Indian citizienship. The singer, a Pakistani national, owns a house in India, has a PAN card, and has now even applied for his marriage at the marriage registrar’s office in Bandra.
The singer-cum-composer is anxious for Indian citizenship and is wearisome the whole lot to get one. Adnan married Dubai-based Sabah Galadari last April and applied for the marriage registration in October. But the marriage is yet to be registered.
This is Adnan’s re-marriage with Sabah. The couple had married in September 2001 and separated in April 2004 after completing divorce proceedings in Dubai.
Adnan was married to Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar before he married Sabah. He had stated many times before that Zeba was the real love of his life and the motivation behind his new sleuth look is the inspiration of Zeba. Meanwhile, his struggles to acquire Indian citizenship still continue. Initially, he seemed to have got a positive response to his application filed in November 2003. The singer had issued a notice in a newspaper in April 2005 announcing his desire for choosing Indian citizenship. However, it seems that his application is still pending.
