Mashhoor Amrohi has attempted real task acting under his own direction in his debut film as a director. Trying to prove his mettle in winning the world, Mashhoor, in his debut film Humse Hai Jahan, has set an example to follow for the youngsters who want to act in their self-directed films.
Don Gary Rosaria (Jackie Shroff) gets emotionaly hurt by Sameer (Mashhoor Amrohi) as he makes a mess at Gary’s hotel during an action and in order to reimburse his mental gash the don forces Sameer to work for his illegal operations. During this span Sameer needs fifty lacs rupees but he doesn’t have guts to ask Gary for that amount. Sameer plots to kidnap Esha (Vishakha Singh), the daughter of flop superstar Gyaneshwar Singh i.e. G S (Shahjad Khan), to bag the amount. But he fails all the time he goes to kidnap Esha with his friends. Then he traps Esha in his love and eventually succeeds in kidnapping her. But that success makes him confident enough to attempt more such things to earn more money. In that way he gets strangled among Dabar (Mukesh Rishi), Samba (Mack Mohan) and Pran Panwara i.e. P P (Kiran Kumar). Having no other option, Sameer decides to get helped out by his uncle Prithwiraj Khanna (Prem Chopra), who is a retired Indian ambassador. To avoid the long questionnaire of his uncle Sameer presents Esha as his wife. On the other hand G S, being very morose with the kidnapping of his daughter, contacts his long time friend Gary for help. Gary comes to think of Esha as his god daughter. Without having any hint about Sameer having his hand behind everything, Gary appoints him in search of Esha. Unfortunately Dabar and Pran inform Gary about how Sameer, acting as Esha’s boyfriend, has kidnapped and killed her. At last the story reaches its endpoint and like many other Bollywood films this film also ends on a happy note.
As a writer Mashhoor never left a chance to make the audience bored. Acting and direction of the film was also up to the mark. Considering Humsey Hai Jahan as Mashhoor’s first film, he can be allowed a little freedom. Vishakha has acted well in accordance with her character. A K Hangal looks well in his new look of Mr. Wild West. On the other hand Kiran Kumar and Prem Chopra are such actors who these days are seen less on screen. Mashhoor has used them very well in this film. It won’t be wrong to call Prem Chopra the rising item boy because of his tapping toes in a song. But the sad note of the film is that Mashhoor, in keeping his eyes on portraying various characters, failed in creating perfect choreography. The story is well built but having it missed the comic touch it would have been very tough to sit and watch the film. If you are a fan of Kamal Amrohi films then you would really love to watch his grandson’s film, only if it’s not otherwise. The rest is obviously upon the audience and their way of accepting the masala from the grandson of a classic maker.

Ashwariya Bachchan’s Rs 1 Million Sunglasses
The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reportedly made the producers of Sarkar Raj shell out Rs.1 million for designer sunglasses for her look in the film.
Apparently, Ash herself chose the glares that made a big hole in the producers’ pocket. Obviously, the price tag left the production houses, K Sera Sera and Z Picture Company, reeling.
Ash plays Anita Rajan, an aggressive and ambitious business tycoon - she is the CEO of a power plant.
According to a source from the production house, Ash was given a pair of designer glasses as part of her look in the Ram Gopal Varma directed film.
But the Bachchan bahu didn’t like the sunglasses much and told the producers that she would get a pair for herself. It sounded fine, until the bill arrived.
Ash didn’t settle for anything regular. The source added that she finally selected a pair of Gucci sunglasses from Harrods when she was in London.
The glares do make a style statement as far as her look in the film is concerned, but the production house could not digest the idea of her wearing such expensive glasses, especially since they had to settle the bill.

Bollywood hopes to turn tide with big flicks
MUMBAI: Bollywood is looking to take over from where the IPL ends. The post-IPL period will see a flurry of big releases with Sarkar Raj, which marks the coming together of the three Bachchans, seeking to initiate the box-office hungama. The industry has seen a lull in the recent past, which has coincided with the cricket extravaganza, and only one film (Jannat) has managed to buck the trend. Films of various budgets have kept bombing at the box-office during the 44-day IPL fever. Now, Bollywood is gearing up to strike back. Sarkar Raj, a sequel to the 2005 hit Sarkar, is the first biggie (lined up for release this Friday); the film stars the three Bs (Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya).

Many would not believe that this Bengali dusky beauty has had silicon implants as well as liposuction on her belly and thighs. Bipasha wanted to keep her body sculpting a secret, but the plastic surgeon determined to tell all when the star refused to pay her bills.

Off late, a young music composer Ram Sampath made the Roshans recompense the price for plagiarism. Ram Sampath had composed a jingle The Thump for a Sony Ericsson TV commercial, which is endorsed by Hrithik Roshan. It is very sad that Plagiarism has become very unbridled today. People are just lifting tunes. Hereafter, Roshans who have the regular habit of stealing music will think twice before stealing another tune, keeping in view the huge amount they had to pay to the music director as compensation.
They are in fact copying a lot from Pakistani music too. The super duper hit film of our industry K3G ’s most popular song “boley choodiyan” was copied in tune from a popular private pakistani number ” ghar aaja sohniya” sung by female singer “shazia manzoor”
Music directors should know the difference between motivation and plagiarism. Resourceful inspiration is not always wrong. Sometimes you get to listen great songs due to this creative inspiration. Copying in any sense is wrong and should not be done.

- What does it feel before the release of a film taking into consideration it’s after a long gap?
I’m not the sort of person who gets nervy. In any case, I haven’t had the time to replicate much on U Me Aur Hum as both Ajay and I were preoccupied with other stuff.
- After playing Simran, Anjali and Zooni, there is a lot of inquisitiveness about your personality in U Me Aur Hum.
I play a common working girl. There’s isn’t anything predominantly different about her character.
- The preceding time you worked with Ajay was in Raju Chacha in 2000. How was it running with him again?
He knows me as an actor and as a person. I think it makes it easier for him to direct me.
- What do you think of him as a director?
I think he’s a terrific director. He really is.
- Is he a sturdy director to thrill?
He knows how to augment an artist’s presentation and how to get the unsurpassed out of you. He gauges what you are capable of and enhances it, which is what good directors are all about.
- Taking into consideration Ajay is uncomfortable dancing, how did the salsa sequences go?
I was in fact nicely flabbergasted. We were worried as we did not get sufficient time to prepare and I thought we would have to repeat several times and matters like that but I was stunned. He was quite good.
- How did your daughter Nysa retort to the ambience on the sets?
She was OK but she wouldn’t sit roughly much. She would get jaded. All kids want notice. She was not in reality spellbound by anything on the sets.

The trade rumour coming in from Malluwood (Kerala) have it that SRK’s Om Shanti Om has been doing boisterous big business in Kerala. In truth, it has made healthier business than their local films released during the similar time. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan received the best actor award for his recital in the Yash Raj Films’ super hit film “Chak De! India”.
Film and Television Producers’ Guild of India (FTPGI) honoured veteran Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra with its top award for “outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema”.
Kareena Kapoor walked away with the best actress trophy for the film “Jab We Met” at a scintillating presentation ceremony at the MMRDA Ground in the Bandra-Kurla Complex in northwest Mumbai Sunday.
FTPGI hosts its own award ceremony to honour Indian artistes as well as creative and technical personalities from the film industry every year.
The trophies are known as “Apsara” awards.
While “Chak De! India” was chosen the best movie of 2007, its director Shimit Amin bagged the trophy for the best director.
A Pakistani television channel, ARY Gold, also honoured actor Hrithik Roshan as the Best Male Style Icon of the year at the ceremony.
Katrina Kaif bagged the Best Female Style Icon ARY Gold trophy.
Akshay Kumar, who churned out the maximum number of hits last year, was adjudged the “Entertainer of the Year” by the FTPGI jury.
NDTV Imagine honoured Deepika Pudokone and Ranbir Kapoor as the year’s best new faces, respectively.
Salman Khan and Govinda received the hit pair NDTV Imagine trophy for their breezy performances in producer Sohail Khan’s hit movie last year, “Partner”.
Salman Khan, Bipasha Basu, Kareena and Riteish Deshmukh performed on the stage. The awards presentation ceremony was put together by Wizcraft.

Zeenat Aman, yesteryear glamour doll has signed together with Raj Babbar in “Dil to Diwana Hai” and says that it would be motivating to work with him again.
Incidentally, Zeenat is an ex-Miss India and Raj Babbar, these days is in the politics.
They were seen together for the first time in “Insaaf Ka Tarazu”, in which Zeenat played a model and Raj Babbar a rapist. To be produced by D.S. Productions, the film is being directed actor Raja Bundela.
“When Raja Bundela approached me for this role I just thought that it would certainly be interesting to work with Raj Babbar again,” said Zeenat who is in mid fifties now.
Apart from these two seasoned actors, there are two newcomers in the film — Aamir Khan’s brother Hyder Ali and popular Tamil and Telugu actress Sadaa.
Zeenat plays Hyder’s mother and Raj Babbar will be seen as Sadaa’s father. “Dil to Diwana Hai”, explores the changing mentality of the new generation, their attitude towards family values, traditions and the requirements of a bridge that can hold them between ethics and modern culture.
The shoot of the film will start in May,2008

- How did you celebrate your birthday this year?
I spent it at home with my parents and close friends. I’m not the late-night “partying” kind of girl; I’d rather spend time with my folks. This is how I’ve been celebrating my birthday and the New Year ever since I can remember. I believe what you do on the first day of the New Year, you end up doing the same for the whole year, so I spent the day reading, exercising and listening to my favorite music.
- Tell us about your new look in Aziz Mirza’s Lucky Charm?
It’s a classy look – that of a sophisticated young city girl. I have consciously worked hard on changing my appearance and I hope my fans like it. In the past, I have received a lot of criticism for my looks, but I’ve taken these in my stride. I was lazy once but I don’t want to give my fans a chance to criticize me anymore.
- What’s going on with your Lucky Charm co-star Shahid Kapoor? Is it true you have been watching films and spending lots of time together?
I have been reading a lot in the newspapers about my relationship with Shahid. I don’t know where people get such information. There’s no truth to all these stories. I think I’m slowly becoming a most wanted with the buzz mills; and when it comes to me, they start working overtime. I’m not the kind of girl who would ever hide her relationship. If I were in love, I’d be very proud of it.

I think I’m not as guarded as I used to be when I was a newcomer. During my Parineeta days, I was still exploring the industry and was fortified, but now I’m more aggressive.
