THEY are hep and happening. Queens of the soap and role models to millions of young girls. Over the past more than a year, the small picture tube has been virtually invaded by a new set of young ladies who are setting new fashion styles and social trends.
- These young new divas have not just elbowed out the well-known ones but have made them look like the generation past. Much of the credit must go to, who else? Ekta Kapoor, who has introduced a slew of new ladies who have cast a spell on the Indian audience. Stars who were nobodies till a year or so ago but are top of the pops today.
- The good wife is always in a designer saree, complete with sindoor and mangalsutra. But the fiance can wear jeans and a sleeveless or noodles top. At least that is what the small screen seems to be preaching.
1.Shweta Tiwari
She is leading the band is who has attained heady stardom with her role in Kasautii Zindagi Kay. I would say she is bold, good looking ,tall and has immense screen presence. She can dance well and act too and her dialogue deliverance is quite spontaneous. She has all qualities for the leading heroine in Hindi films.
2. Prachi Desai
If purity needed a synonym in today’s Indian television industry, Prachi Desai would be the top challenger. The 17-year-old actress did wonders with her portrayal of Bani in Kasamh Se and is the undisputed number one actress of 2007. Not only did she elevate the character to a new level, but she also became one of the most popular faces in the industry. Desai is Ekta Kapoor’s latest blue-eyed-girl and there is a lot more expected from her in the years to come.
3. Divyanaga
She is a beauty, pretty and lovely in herself, although I am not watching any of her serials but in between when IÂ see her in Saas Bahu aur Sajish, I have become a fan of her. Recently she won best actress award. She embodies innocence in her looks.
4.Pravina
I dont know her off screen name, but she does a fabulous job in Baa Bahu aur Baby. Rcently her character has been killed in the serial, hope she will get resurrection soon. She is witty and her screen presence is immense and colossal.
5.Lubna
She is the Hema Malini look alike of Baa Bahu aur baby. Somehow even when she does overacting, it is not irritating and the way she portrays the character as the eldest bahu she is marvellous.
6.Richa Gujarati
She used to be the bahu of Babhi, recently has character has been given to somebody else. I always used to feel this girl has immense potential, and that has been materialised, it is learnt that she has signed a film with Abjieet Sawant, the Indian Idol. She performs has role quite candidly.
7.Panchi Vohra
She became a bahu very recently in kayamat, but from the very beginning, I had predicted that she will be the Rani Mukherjee of TV and that has really happened. She is sober, beautiful and with no ommps. Very simple and very innocent.
8.Pallavi
This dark girl fares well in Karam Apna Apna. She fully justifies with her role as a daughter from a lower middle class family , but now a bahu of a very rich family.
9.Sangeeta Ghosh
This lady has vivacious screen presence and recently we saw her in Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand which won her a instant fame.
10.Kavita Nagpal
She plays Rakesh Bedis wife in Office Office. Although she is very plump and old enough for the role she play, but still I like the way she enacts her role. She is simply superb.

Bollywood’s leading ladies say they have never felt mediocre to men and mull over opportunities are escalating for women in the country.
On Womens Day today i.e. 8th March,2008 ,BestDesi.com asked Bollywood stars on what they feel being a woman , this is what they opined:
Shilpa Shetty:
As a woman I’ve nothing to grumble about. Today when I go abroad I’m proud to symbolize my film fraternity, my gender, my country and myself. I guess I’ve been singularly lucky. I realize there’re so many women in our country who are still aggressive to earn a living. But I think things are varying very fast. Opportunities for women aren’t incomplete any longer.
Hema Malini: 
I’m proud to be a woman and an Indian. With the prominence that I’ve achieved I’ve no problem getting what I want. But I know it isn’t so with a lot of women in our country. I sympathize with their distress and I do want to work towards getting better their lot. That’s one of the reasons I joined politics.
Ekta Kapoor : 
Being a woman is no annoyance. Though I won’t say it’s an benefit either in today’s India - at least not in the corporate world. Yet lots of women in rural India are made to believe they’re deprived by their gender. Yes gender bias is fading. I think our inherent advantage as women is that we’re stronger than men even though we’re more perceptive.
Bipasha Basu: 
The new Indian woman cuts across all age groups and class structures. We acclimatize better to situation because we are not playing by the rules of others. We are flexible and are able to bounce back from every prospect. I know women who go to work, take care of house and home, and be mothers without breaking a step. I don’t know many men who can do that. Somehow we never tire out ourselves as much in the place of work as men do.

Aditya Chopra, Filmmaker of DDLJ and Choor Choori Chupe Chupke fame, recently finally got divorced from his wife and now intends to marry film star Rani Mukherjee. According the grapevines the Chopras (his father and mother) are not happy with the marriage, so to keep good terms with the alienated first daughter in law, they have gifted her with a bungalow in Juhu and some whopping crores to keep her lips lock. Aditya’s first marriage is 6 year old. Seems Rani too is following the steps of Hema Malini , Sridevi and Karishna Kapoor who all happen to marry , already married men and now that Kareena is also on the way. May be these girls are more fascinated in braking a contentedly nuptial home and also looks like that they have an affection to men much mature to them in epoch too.

Esha Deol is going to learn Ballet in the US after her completion of the movie Hijack
Being the daughter of a danseuse actress, Esha has dancing in her DNA. From her childhood Esha has been learning classical Indian dances under the tutelage of her mother Hema Malini .
When she comes back, Esha is looking forward to move in her family’s new building in Juhu with her mom and sis.

Shah Rukh Khan has been offered a Bentley car by Director Ravi Chopra for his guest appearance in the film
Bhoothnath. Ravi Chopra had to do this as SRK did not accept any sum as fees for the guest appearance. It is learnt that King Khan used his own apparels and accessories in the film.
Shah Rukh Khan after his London visit recently gifted Farah Khan a Book titled names of babies; but that of course was is of no use to Farah Khan who says the books contains only Christian names like John, Jospeph,Mathew … etc.
Deepika Podukone has a signed an untitled movie with Ranbir Kapoor. The shooting will take place in London. She also has Priyadarshan’s Pirate, a comedy about a band of musicians that opposes piracy in the world of entertainment and Nikhil Advani’s thriller Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo opposite Akshay Kumar. Ranbir Kapoor on the other hand, will next appear in a Yash Raj Film to be directed by Siddharth Anand whose recent film Ta Ra Rum Pum barely tattered through at the Box Office. Fascinatingly, Yash Raj had given Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor one of his finest films - Kabhi Kabhie.
Priyanka Chopra , the Don girl will be seen in a Shampoo advertisement along with Material Girl Madonna, in an international collaboration. Most of Priyanka’s endorsements have been international brands which means she is dealing with the who’s who. Her name is being circulated in the right circles and so when Sunsilk was on the lookout for an international face from India who could match Madonna and Marilyn they decided on Priyanka? Priyanka Chopra’s recent contract with Sunsilk has put the actress in esteemed company. The shampoo brand has not only taken on the ex-Ms World but also international pop singer Madonna as well as Marilyn Monroe as their new worldwide ambassadors.
Hema Malini, not so content with her daughter Esha’s filmy work, is setting up a Production House to her betis, wherein one will find Esha in the lead role of their film and Ahana, her second daughter will carry on the backdrop matters. Other than a mom who else will understand the whims of her daughter?
Shahid Kapoor is in a big dilemma, as he does not know in whose film he should first work , as both his parents {mother Nilima Azim and father Pankaj Kapoor.. now both divorced }are going to make films in their own way and they both want Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.
Although Madhuri Dixit has packed her baggage and proceeded to US, but the murmuring is that Yash Raj Films wants her to do more films for them. They have some tailor made scripts in particular keeping Madhuri in view. But Madhuri’s stipulation is that the film’s shooting will have to be held in US and furthermore, she will give the shooting schedule only during her son’s vacation period. Anything for you Madhuri!
