Mallu superstar Mohanlal is to perform the stunt ahead of an international magicians meet.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s campaign to perform a stunt called ‘Burning Illusion’ in Thiruvananthapuram on April 27 has ripped the magician community in Kerala as they believe it could be really hazardous.
Mohanlal is to execute the daredevil act ahead of an international magicians meet and he has been under guidance for the past 18 months under the instructions of Gopinath Muthukad, who heads the Magic Academy. The superstar says he wants to inspire the Kerala youth by his act.
Conversely another leading magician Samrat on Monday advised Mohanlal against it, saying it was a complicated inhibit and that Muthukad had once unsuccessful in his endeavour to carry it out .
“Burning Illusion is one item that can be performed only after years of experience and Muthukad himself failed in his attempt at a show in Bahrain a few years back, he is now using Mohanlal for cheap publicity and this should not happen,” Samrat told reporters.
.
The open-air flee feat, to be held at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, is a curtain raiser for the four-day ‘Vismayam 2008′, a programme in which nearly 1,000 magicians from across the world are expected to take part. The meet starts on May 1.
Samrat said he would approach the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) with a message signed by 300 magicians, requesting it to advising Mohanlal to leave from the show.
The trade rumour coming in from Malluwood (Kerala) have it that SRK’s Om Shanti Om has been doing boisterous big business in Kerala. In truth, it has made healthier business than their local films released during the similar time. So the story of the day is that Shah Rukh Khan has vanished everywhere no Hindi film actors have spent prior to. King Khan is a gigantic knock downhill south too. Mind it!
An unfortunately managed photo-shoot at the Bowmanville Zoo, Toronto to erect circulation by presenting how bizarre ancient Indian martial arts can be, turned out to be very fatal for Indian Martial Art Trainer Gitanjali of Kerala .
The Indian trainer was knocked over by a lion during the photo shoot at the Zoo . She broke four ribs and a bloodied lung.
“To be honest, the sensation I have is a great deal of gratitude to be alive,†Gitanjali Kolanad said the bedridden trainer.
Since the commencement, the 180 kilogram beast proved mischievous and not completely in command of of its two minders.
Kolanad, 54, practices the ancient, and perceptibly feeble, Indian martial art of Kalaripayat, formed after the actions of such animals as the lion, elephant, wild boar and peacock. The magazine opted she pose with a lion. Next time, she might just tell them where to get off, and choose a peacock instead!
A video of the session shows Leo first knocking over editor Sonia Verma. She picks herself up and smiles. He next paws the legs of photographer Richard Lautens. Off-camera, he also took a swipe at the legs of art director Spencer Wynn.
The 3-year-old lion was two-faced in close proximity when an unmindful Kolanad was reaching into her actions. Still imperfect to leap, the animal jumped up and fell on her, knocking the breath out of her, injuring her left lung and infringing four left ribs.
It was not an assail, the witnesses said. The lion’s mouth was not open and Kolanad was not dented. The Bowmanville Zoo had no comment on the incident.
Focus is key in Kalaripayat, which bases its movements on the graceful control of animals. It’s a constant lesson in focal point. When you lose your focus, you instantaneously get hit.
In the video, one attendant kicks the otherwise obedient beast in the neck while the other pulls on Leo’s chain. The lion takes a second, abortive attack at Kolanad as she lies breathless, before he is escorted out the door.
Incapable to work for the past month and still in pain, Kolanad said she feels on the road to recovery.
This shows that there are no limits to human stupidity like performing before a dangerous beast at the cost of one’s life!!!

Shah Rukh was enrolled in The St Columba’s School,in kindergarten in January 1972 at the age of six. It is an impressive institution spread over numerous acres of land in the heart of Delhi. Founded by the Indian Province of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, it was started on April 29, 1941 with 32 boys enrolled. The school’s status grew with its size. By 1955, the students numbered 2200, and a new building had been added.
The demureness of the school:
The Irish Brothers were well-known for discipline and punishment. Up to the late 1980s, corporal punishment was used at St Columba’s. Minor children were striked on buttocks. Older ones were caned on their backsides — a few whacks meant sitting on a sweater or bag all day to pad the cuts. And the eldest boys were rapped on their knuckles and fingertips. On cold winter days, the canes connecting with frozen fingertips caused on the spot blisters. The Brothers hid canes in their robes. If a rule was wrecked, penalty was instantaneous and excruciating.
His visits to the hair-dresser:
The school insisted on snappy nails and tiny hair. Anybody with hair over the chosen length was sent from school to the barber on the sidewalk at the nearby Gole Market. Shah Rukh, blessed with a intense, disorderly wash made this spree frequently. It was seven-thirty A.M and the barber had usually just woken up. He had morning breath and eyes full of sleep but he began the haircut with the same question, ‘What style haircut do you want, Dharmendra or Amitabh Bachchan?’ Years later, Shah Rukh knew he had attained celebrity when hair stylists told him that clientele were asking for the Shah Rukh Khan cut.
His noutankis:
Hindi gaalis or curse words bombarded his verbal communication. Fights were not infrequent. Shah Rukh saw knives pulled and blood pour. The image of cane-carrying priests and the prolonged schedule of rules at St Columba’s didn’t dissuade Shah Rukh. He was a master prankster. His best tricks were humorous, overconfident and generally put his burgeoning amateur dramatics aptitude to use. In the ninth grade, he hired an Amitabh Bachchan line from a film called Kaalia to persuade a teacher that his parents and the school administration neglected him.
The teacher, his saviour:
The teacher was his solitary unsubstantiated encouragement. Considering this and his tantalizing analytical rank, he told her, she should allow him to leave out some forthcoming tests. ‘Mere liye toh oopar bhagwan hai, neeche aap. Beech mein Yamraj talwar le kar vaar kar raha hai,’ he said. ‘For me, God is above and you below. In between, Yamraj, the Lord of Death, is attacking me with his sword.’ The repercussion being that the teacher was the only one who could save him from devastation. She bought it and endorsed him to overlook the tests.
Fun with Teachers:
Whenever they got a new teacher, he would play to have an epileptic fit. The students would pull off his shoes and would force him to walk bare feet. Everybody knew that Shah Rukh was playing consciously. He was really very asinine. He was awarded with the Sword of Honour by the school for all round development.
His first crush:
The primordial Church of Goldakhana is closest to the school and attached with its compound is the prominent Convent of Jesus and Mary.
Gauri (now his spouse) used to study in that convent. It is learnt that they used to come by the same school bus. SRK had a crush on her. During a Christmas show, SRK showed Gauri his fondness to salsa with her. She agreed. Later on to meet her even during school hours SRK used to bunk classes and reached the girls convent to meet Gauri. The sharp Brothers of St Columbus caught SRK’s wayward playoffs and later built a huge compound barrier unscrambling the Convent of Jesus and Mary and St Columbus. Gauri’s parents later shifted her to the elite Modern School, Barakhamba Road.(Now Gauri is SRKs beloved wife).
His school gang:
In school there were four of them and called themselves the ‘C’ gang.
As they were from the C-section. They are still friends and are married
friends. Like he married Gauri who’s best friend is married to Vikas.
He has never had more friends and close friends than these three-except
perhaps, Chikki. Anyway, they were very cool, yanky gang, very American. They loved wearing Nike and they’d have a little spring in their walk, like the Americans and the blacks do.
The good quality Khan:
Shah Rukh would return home at nine every night, after taking part in elocution, exhibitions, or rehearsing. Later at night he would play Cricket under the street lamp. He would study at the last minute as he had a good memory.
The arrogant Khan:
At college he was quite lost as he came from a sophisticated school. But he was not an artificial guy with an accent like most guys from St. Columbus’s get. He admits that he learnt to be arrogant because of the ambience in school. He had it for 13 years in school. That amount of arrogance he says is excellent. Then that approach continued at Stephens College, Delhi, which he left after a year. He then joined Hansraj College, Delhi and after that he did Masters in Mass Communication from Jamiya Miliya Islamiya, in Delhi, but quit it in a year.
Time has elapsed, he is a Star now:
Now SRK is invited as a VVIP to the schools’ prominent and elevated profile shows, but he hardly ever attends those functions. Now only reminiscences are left. At the foyer of the school a big life size snap of King Khan is positioned as a chronicle of the legendry luminary.
(Mammoty and Mohanlal)Malayalam cinema superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal meet head-on desperate times. They have enjoyed box-office domination for over 20 years but those glorious days seem to be past.
All their films in the last two years have flopped forcing Malayalam filmmakers to look for newer, younger heroes.
I think apart from hardcore fans everybody like good movies, whether they are having so called super stars or not.
Mammootty should be a poignant 60 and it may be difficult for the star to continue getting romantic roles. Viewers are tired of seeing these grand papas chasing these young petites, around bushes and tress who look comparable to their grand-daughters A movie reflects values of that society and way of life. Mammooty and Mohanlal need to retire and give the younger guys a chance to showcase their talents. Something must be done to change this .Do a survey-see how fans feel about this.
Sooner or later this whole M&M bandwagon will come to end. The old will be replaced by new ones. And actors like Prithvi, Indrajit and many others will pave their way and should be welcomed to find their forte in the viewers. Whether we like it or not,Mammotty’s and Mohanlal’s restraint are becoming noticeable.
On a second note, malayalam movie makers should stop thinking that M&M are the only ways to make a movie. If not we will see movies like ‘Bus Conductor’ and ‘Maha Samudram’. It is a big question whether this industry will survive after 10yrs from now.
It is time for the Keralites to think something beyond the two MMs. Kerala film industry is blessed many good young actors. It is irony that the movies by young heros becoming the highest grosser of all times in Kerala.
For non-resident malayalees , movies are the only way to keep in touch with the Malayalam language as such. But after seeing and enjoying movies of many action hero Hindi movies, nobody would really be paying attention to the gigantic oversize old mohanlal and mamotty with tiny elusive teenagers. This is the time for change, hence bye bye oldie superstars!
