All are aware that Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan has proposed marriage to Katrina Kaif twice over the past two years. But this New Year’s Eve is said to have been quite different for this hot couple!
Bestdesi.com got the news through a common friend that all through December, Salman was in a contemplative mood about his love affair. He confessed to this friend that while his colleagues Shah Rukh and Hrithik were extremely happy with their wives and children, his own life was not going anywhere.
But unknown to many, Salman this time, set the stage for what appears to be the most romantic proposal of the year! Since the entire Khan family headed for their farm in Panvel to celebrate New Year, Salman quietly said he would drive down with Katrina. And according to the grapevine, just before they touched the farm at Panvel, Salman stopped the car and, under the stars, seriously proposed her.
Whether she has said the big ‘YES’ or not remains to be seen. But Salman has apparently returned in a jubilant mood. His friend tells us that Salman regrets the earlier two proposals he made to Katrina, for they were in view of others, which is said to have humiliated her.
Also, Khan is now willing to give her a free harness on her professional decisions. In keeping with the freedom his family has allowed to all women to work and be on their own, apparently Salman has realized that he cannot stop Katrina from following her dreams.
All that’s in his mind is that he does not want to lose this woman whom he loves so much. As for seeing them together on screen, Salman and Katrina will next appear in Subhash Ghai’s romantic Main Yuvraj, the shooting of which is already underway.

After a double merriment recently, New Year and her birthday on January 1, Vidya Balan is back to work. Her link-up with Shahid Kapoor and the undisclosed new glam look are the gossip of Bollywood today. Vidya reveals all!
- How did you celebrate your birthday this year?
I spent it at home with my parents and close friends. I’m not the late-night “partying” kind of girl; I’d rather spend time with my folks. This is how I’ve been celebrating my birthday and the New Year ever since I can remember. I believe what you do on the first day of the New Year, you end up doing the same for the whole year, so I spent the day reading, exercising and listening to my favorite music.
- Tell us about your new look in Aziz Mirza’s Lucky Charm?
It’s a classy look – that of a sophisticated young city girl. I have consciously worked hard on changing my appearance and I hope my fans like it. In the past, I have received a lot of criticism for my looks, but I’ve taken these in my stride. I was lazy once but I don’t want to give my fans a chance to criticize me anymore.
- What’s going on with your Lucky Charm co-star Shahid Kapoor? Is it true you have been watching films and spending lots of time together?
I have been reading a lot in the newspapers about my relationship with Shahid. I don’t know where people get such information. There’s no truth to all these stories. I think I’m slowly becoming a most wanted with the buzz mills; and when it comes to me, they start working overtime. I’m not the kind of girl who would ever hide her relationship. If I were in love, I’d be very proud of it.
Which guy in Bollywood comes closest to your idea of Mr. Right?
- What changes do you see in yourself today?
I think I’m not as guarded as I used to be when I was a newcomer. During my Parineeta days, I was still exploring the industry and was fortified, but now I’m more aggressive.

HOUSTON: With weight loss topping the list of New Year’s resolution for most of the people this year, the nutrition experts have warned against going for a crazy fad or crash diets to achieve their goal.
There’s no need for crazy fads or crash diets. Simple, nutritious eating is the best way to achieve a healthy resolution weight loss goal, suggest experts.
“Women are the most likely victims of fad diets,” says nutrition expert Gloria Tsang. We’re so busy these days that even thinking about healthy eating can seem like too much, she said
“Fad diets or starvation seem easy, but the truth is these strategies are bad for you - and they just don’t work”, said Tsang, the founder of an online nutrition community.
She suggests that one should avoid having processed meats, skipping breakfast and refined grains like white bread and rice which have fewer nutrients.
Instead people should have lots of colourful veggies, which are high in fibre and low in calories, and to satisfy the sweet tooth, she suggests having a snacks of fresh or dried fruits.
She also says people should eat lots of popcorn, which contains fibre and anti-oxidants but hardly any calories. But is should be consumed without butter, she added.

MUMBAI: Two women were allegedly molested by a group of men on New Year outside a five-star hotel here.
Police said no complaint has been filed yet in this connection, but the local edition of a leading English daily published a series of photographs on the incident.
“No such complaint has been registered with us. We had adequate security arrangements outside the hotel, where personnel from the State Reserve Police Force were posted and closed circuit cameras installed,” Additional Commissioner of Police Archna Tyagi said.
The incident took place at around 0145 hrs(local time) on Tuesday when the women, along with their male friends, were heading towards Juhu beach from a hotel in the suburbs.
A mob of 70-80 men reportedly tore up the women’s clothes, molested and groped them while their male companions, overpowered by the crowd, watched helplessly.

Mumbai, January 2: Downplaying the shocking incident of two women in Juhu being molested by a mob of 70 people as a “minor issue”, Police Commissioner D N Jadhav on Wednesday accused the media of making “mountain out of molehill.”
“Such things can happen anywhere anytime. Here also where I am. Don’t make mountain out of molehill,” Yadav said responding to questions by the newsmen on the incident.
The two women were groped and molested by a mob of 70-80 people near a five-star hotel from where they were returning after the New Year celebrations early Tuesday.
“It (the molestation) is just an offence,” Yadav said while appearing to target the media at the same time when he asked “Why are you blowing it out of proportion?”
Stating that no one has come forward to file a complaint, he said the police was registering a case on its own.
“I can’t keep police behind every man,” the Commissioner said, adding that the police were investigating the case.

15 nabbed for molesting NRI girls on New Year

Mumbai: Fifteen youths were arrested here late on Thursday night in connection with the alleged molestation of two NRI girls from California on New Year.
Of those arrested, two had surrendered before the Mumbai police.
The police action comes more than 48 hours after the incident in which a rowdy group of New Year revellers allegedly ripped off the clothes of the two girls, who originally belong to Valsad in south Gujarat.

It’s ‘Like a Prayer’ come true for many; 49-year-old multiple Grammy and Golden Globe award winner, international pop sensation Madonna, will be here, in aamchi Mumbai this week.
In India on a private visit with husband Guy Ritchie, her son and a couple of friends, the singing ‘Evita’ is currently touring Rajasthan, where she brought in the new year in a village near Jodhpur. “She is here on a holiday, it is a personal visit to India and is not work-related at all. She does not want people to know about her visit here,” revealed a source.
Madonna seems to be making full paisa vasool of her Rajasthan sojourn — she celebrated New Year’s eve at Wilderness Camp, 55 km from Jodhpur, listening to folk songs and watching traditional dancers perform.
A village safari the next day, where Madonna rode horseback and interacted with villagers, a traditional Rajasthani meal and a night’s stay at Jodhpur’s famous Umaid Bhawan Palace was also part of her itinerary.
She was also scheduled to have lunch with the former ruler of Jodhpur, Maharaja Gaj Singhji II.
Moreso, the ‘La Isla Bonita’ singer is believed to be making a quick stopover in Mumbai too, apart from her sight-seeing visit to Jaisalmer and Udaipur, during her week-long trip to India. According to sources, the singer has booked an entire floor of a South Mumbai five-star and has arranged for special security from Israel. And even though she doesn’t want Papa — or anyone else for that matter — to preach about her whereabouts, Mumbai sure is looking forward to this ‘Beautiful Stranger’

Christmas, the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, is celebrated by Christians all over India with enormous passion.
